Welcome to our Web site!
Sugarmillers is a group of
American Vietnam Veterans who served honorably in combat with Military
Assistance Command- Vietnam as Advisors to the local RF/PF Forces of South Vietnam. Their duties involved
training the Vietnamese Regional and Popular Forces as well as conducting
combat operations with them. These RF/PF Forces were very similar to
our own National Guard and Reserve Forces. Their equipment was not the
very best and living conditions were harsh to say the least. These
American Advisors were nearly all volunteers who honored their country's
call to duty. The main center of operations for District Team 43
whose members initially organized the Sugarmillers was around an old French
sugar mill, hence, the name "Sugarmillers". After returning home these men
had many years of little or no contact with one another until a
reunion was held in Spring Hill, FL in 1998 at the home of Ray & Michelle
Wing.
During this first
reunion, the camaraderie of years ago was renewed and stories accumulated
over the years were told and re-told. Today we still find these
meetings to be theraupeutic as well as downright enjoyable.
Unfortunately as our numbers dwindle we are looking to add new members to
the group. If you believe that you would like to join this group
please contact us.
